Exactly one year ago I set off on an 11 night solo

Exactly one year ago I set off on an 11 night solo road trip across Alentejo🇵🇹

It was a surreal experience. International travel was banned and many of the (already quiet) towns and villages were completely empty, but I fell in love with the region.

Driving the cork lined roads, chatting with locals in broken Portuguese, discovering a new passion for wine, soaking up that indescribable heat and watching sunsets like this one (last photo).

I am not exaggerating when I say that trip changed the course of my life. Alentejo ignited change. It led to a month in Lisbon which turned into 9 months (and counting) in Cascais.

I’ve lived my life following my heart and intuition but there have only been a handful of times I have felt a pull so strong as I did after Alentejo.

I have returned to Alentejo several times since this trip and I plan to explore every inch of this magical region in the future.
