Where to stay Douro Valley – Quinta da Casa Cimeira

I rarely write a specific post about a hotel but after staying multiple times at this exact hotel and in various locations across the whole of Douro Valley over the last 10 years I have to pay special respect to Quinta da Casa Cimeria.

Quinta da Casa Cimeira: A Personal Review

I’ve stayed at Casa Cimeria three times over the years but I have also recommended the hotel to the vast majority of my travel planning customers. Everyone agrees it is a truly special and memorable experience in the Portugal itinerary. It isn’t just that though, the hotel is also such good value – a rare find these days!

Where is Casa Cimeria

This family-run gem is located in tiny Valença do Douro, a 20 minute drive from Douro Valley’s hub Pinhao. The hotel is best reached by car or taxi.

Best value traditional hotel in Douro Valley

This family-run small country hotel captures the Douro valley Experience in one fell swoop. Best of all, it remains extremely good value and unlike some other hotels it has kept its prices fair through the years.

Casa Cimeira is family-run and that same family also runs a vineyard, producing excellent port. Want to try? You’re in luck. The small on-site bar has many bottles to taste including a delicious 10 year old tawny.

The hotel also offers traditional home cooked dinners every night that you eat on a communal table with other guests.

It’s a warming experience and completely unique.
